BBNaija reduces prize money for Season 9

The organizers of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) have officially announced a reduction in the prize money for the upcoming Season 9 of the reality show.

In a statement released on their official X page, it was revealed that the winner of Season 9 will now receive a grand prize of N100 million and a brand-new SUV. This marks a decrease from the previous prize amount of N120 million.

The announcement comes just ahead of the highly anticipated premiere of Africa’s most popular reality show, scheduled for July 28.

During a press conference held on July 17, Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, shared insights into what fans can expect from this year’s edition. She revealed that the show will run for 71 days, culminating in a grand finale on October 6.

Adding a twist to the game format, housemates will enter the house in pairs, introducing new dynamics and challenges throughout the season.

Tejumola emphasized the unique entertainment blend viewers can anticipate: “[The show] will be going beyond drama; we will be bringing in different blends of unique entertainment.”

She continued: "Everyone curious about the theme should watch out for the premiere on Sunday, July 28. The show holds lots of fun, vibes, emotion, drama, dynamics, and intriguing twists."

She added that the Big Brother Naija Buzz, to be anchored by Toke Makinwa, would be available for lovers of the show to catch up with the behind-the-scenes.

“There will be something that would be unravelled from the night of the premiere.

“We will not be having the head of the house challenge as usual; there will be lots of twists from Big Brother.

“The pool party and the Saturday night party will be held, and the show will air 24 hours,” she added.
