However, there have been concerns raised about the lyrics of ‘Unavailable’, which have been deemed homophobic against the LGBTQ+ community. The verse in question says, “So, make no body para oh Say, I carry woman (woman) Shey na man wey I for carry? Fuck all the rumours Abi, e get when I talk say “I be pastor”.

A Twitter user identified as @mazpa took to the platform to condemn Davido for spitting in the face of the LGBTQ+ community with his lyrics. In his tweet, the critic wrote, “That low-key homophobic lyric in Davido’s “Unavailable”. Hmmm. For context, Davido was referring to promiscuity rumors. So the context here is promiscuity. But in his defense, he asks “shey na man wey I for carry” as though he was being berated for being straight. Now what does promiscuity have to do with sexual orientation??”

Since the critic's tweet, there have been mixed reactions from Davido's fans and followers. Some people believe that Davido's lyrics were homophobic, while others think that the criticisms are baseless. For instance, @sexyasswolfe wrote, “Jusr gave me another reason not to like him🤭 he’ll be fine!😂”. Similarly, @vbw_riakosher n wrote, “Lol you people on this Twitter are so unbelievable. Someone declaring he’s straight is homophobic? Wawuu!”. Meanwhile, @yvonnezaa argued that “But he’s just trying to say he’s a straight man now, you people sef.” Others like @Davoski94 felt that the lyrics were unnecessary. While @Poison22989266 opined that “Twitter and always looking for angles.. how many times have people made that statement just as a jab. I can tell my friend he’s a womaniser and in his defense, he will say “ABI na man I wan follow” same goes to straight women using the line.” On the other hand, @Burmese_Tyga_ appeared to mock the LGBTQ+ community, writing “You realize you are not the only gay Nigerian on Twitter yeah? Can’t you just swallow nut like your peers and STFU? 🙄”.
