Appearing as a guest on the #WithChude podcast, Hundeyin delved into his approach to journalism, reflecting on the stories he covered, his literary works, the evolution of his brand, and the factors influencing his decision to leave Nigeria.

“Contrary to the public perception of me as a fire-breathing dragon, those who know me personally understand that I'm actually quite sentimental and emotional. I'm a huge softie to those close to me. However, Nigeria is a harsh environment, particularly for the meek,” he remarked.

Hundeyin disclosed that he was compelled to leave the country after receiving threats in response to his investigative reporting. He recounted a particularly alarming threat originating from a family member with significant influence in the country.

“I was essentially exiled from Nigeria; I no longer possess a Nigerian passport. The threats began in 2019 when my profile as an investigative writer started to rise. Some of these threats even came from close quarters, including a family member,” he explained.

“In August 2019, during a Sallah celebration, a family tradition entailed gathering in Badagry. Despite not having spoken to this family member since my father's passing and having no contact for years, he sought me out specifically. In a chilling encounter, he warned me about the vast underground prison facilities at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, suggesting that my fate could await me there,” Hundeyin recounted.
