The nominations for the 2023 Trace Awards have been unveiled. The list of nominees for the inaugural edition was released by the award organizers on Monday, August 21, 2023. Leading the nominee list are Davido, Burna Boy, and Tiwa Savage.
Davido, Burna Boy, and Tiwa Savage are among the leading nominees for various categories. The nominations span across artistes, music producers, DJs, writers, composers, directors, and record labels.

In the list, Davido and Burna Boy stand out with four nominations each in categories like ‘Best Male,’ ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Best Live,’ ‘Best Collaboration,’ ‘Best Artist,’ and ‘Album of the Year.’ Following closely are Asake, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Yemi Alade, and Fireboy DML, who secured three nominations each. Rema and Kizz Daniel also earned two nominations each.
Other notable Nigerian names on the list include Odumodublvck, Oxlade, The Compozers, Moses Bliss, DJ Spinall, Olamide, BNXN, Show Dem Camp, and Nissi.
Olivier Laouchez, Trace chairman, and co-founder, praised African artists as "extraordinarily creative and dynamic," representing a significant cultural force deserving more global recognition. The Trace Awards' nominations celebrate excellence from over 150 performers, according to Laouchez.
"Congratulations to all the nominees," he added. Most of them will be part of the event in Kigali on October 21, where they will perform. The awards promise to be an exceptional experience for enthusiasts of African and Afro-inspired music.
The event is scheduled to take place on October 21, 2023, at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
