Renowned musician, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, famously known as D’banj, shares a touching anecdote about how his mother orchestrated his marriage during his father’s birthday festivities.
Appearing on TVC’s ‘Your View,’ the Koko Master disclosed the smooth transition into marital life despite being a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
D’banj reminisced about his mother's strategic move during his father’s birthday celebration. She urged him to introduce his girlfriend to the family, subtly inquiring about their plans for marriage. However, D’banj expressed his hesitation, envisioning a grand wedding in the future.
To his astonishment, his mother had orchestrated a secret wedding ceremony for him during his father’s birthday bash. They were surprised with a ‘Happy Wedding’ cake, marking the beginning of their marital journey.
D’Banj reflects on his mother's wedding plan
“My mother orchestrated everything. She assured me not to worry, outlining her plan for us. My father’s birthday falls on July 2nd, so we planned to celebrate him.
“She instructed me to bring my girlfriend so the family could meet her and discuss our potential marriage. I hesitated, preferring a grand event. However, she assured me of a lavish wedding in the future, urging me to bring her for Daddy’s birthday celebration.
“At the end of Daddy’s birthday, they unveiled his cake, which read ‘Happy Wedding.’ Even my brother, D’Prince, was taken aback. I remain grateful for her foresight and how she anticipated everything, especially amidst social media stories.”
