Following a thorough examination of the evidence, Guinness World Records has confirmed that Hilda Effiong Bassey, widely known as Hilda Baci, has broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual) with an astounding time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.

The 26-year-old chef embarked on her remarkable culinary feat on Thursday, May 11, and persevered tirelessly until Monday, May 15, during which she prepared over 100 pots of food over the course of four consecutive days.

Although Hilda had initially aimed for a record of 100 hours, a deduction of nearly seven hours was made from her final total due to inadvertently taking extra minutes during one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.

In accordance with the rules for all "longest marathon" records, Hilda was permitted a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of activity. These breaks could be accumulated if not utilized and provided her with the opportunity to use the bathroom or rest during the duration of the challenge.

The previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes was set by Lata Tondon from India in 2019. Hilda embarked on this extraordinary journey with the aim of "putting Nigerian cuisine on the map" and inspiring young African women to pursue their dreams.
