Popular singer, Korede Bello has opened up about the reasons behind his decision to part ways with Mavins Records, the record label where he was signed from 2014 to 2021.
During a recent interview with Hip TV, the “Godwin” hitmaker shared that his departure from the label was motivated by a desire to reassess his personal growth and artistic purpose.
He explained that he reached a point in his life where he felt the need to undergo a transformation, seeking to explore his inner self, understand his true worth, and reconnect with his original motivations for making music.
In his own words:
“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why.”
Korede further elaborated on how he began to feel like a product at Mavins Records, solely focused on generating profit.
He remarked:
“Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there [at Mavins Records] to make money.”
The singer also touched on the pressures artists face in constantly chasing the next hit or moment of success, which can lead them to lose sight of what truly matters.
“You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle,” Korede concluded.
