The Lagos State authorities have officially lifted the seal on the restaurant owned by popular socialite Cubana Chief Priest, days after shutting it down due to multiple environmental violations, including excessive noise pollution. The restaurant, which had been recently opened, was closed following concerns raised by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) over its disregard for environmental regulations.
A few days ago, Gistreel reported that the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, made the closure public through a statement on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Wahab indicated that the decision to close the establishment came after several warnings and notices were issued, yet the violations persisted. The primary concerns were related to noise pollution and other infractions that posed a threat to the surrounding environment.
In his post, Wahab detailed the process that led to the closure of Cubana Chief Priest’s restaurant. He mentioned that despite repeated abatement notices issued by LASEPA, the restaurant failed to comply with environmental standards. As a result, the government had no choice but to seal the premises in line with the enforcement of the state’s environmental laws.

In a post accompanying photos of the closure, Wahab wrote:
“After several warnings and abatement notices, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency @LasepaOfficial sealed Donald’s Fast Food on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki 1 over noise pollution and other environmental infractions.” The attached photos clearly showed the restaurant being sealed by state officials, with government agents patrolling the location to enforce the closure order.
It is important to note that the restaurant had only been in operation for a few weeks before the closure order was executed, making the abrupt shutdown particularly significant given its brief existence. Nonetheless, the decision to close the establishment highlighted the Lagos State government's strict stance on enforcing environmental regulations, particularly in busy areas like Lekki.
In a new and positive development, a video has surfaced online showing Cubana Chief Priest reopening his restaurant. This comes after the Lagos State authorities reversed their earlier decision and allowed the business to resume operations. The video captures Cubana Chief Priest excitedly reopening his establishment, signaling a fresh start for the business after resolving the issues that led to its temporary closure.
