Gospel artist Laolu Gbenjo has shared his thoughts on the significance of having various genres of music. In an interview with Channels Television on ‘The Morning Brief’, Gbenjo discussed why he believes a single genre, such as gospel music, would make the world less dynamic.

He pointed out that if everyone exclusively sang gospel music, it would result in a lack of excitement and variety. Gbenjo emphasized the importance of having diverse types of music to suit different occasions and emotions. For instance, love songs are appropriate for weddings, while praise songs are fitting for celebrations. This diversity provides a balanced musical experience.

He said:

“We have to be sincere to ourselves, if everybody sings gospel, the world will be boring. That’s the truth. If anyone is getting married, you don’t expect me to sing gospel all through, there are love songs and celebration praise. It’s just a celebration”, he said.

Additionally, Gbenjo spoke about the origins of his musical career, revealing that his father, a pastor, was a major influence on his decision to start singing.

“I started singing because my father was a pastor”, he said.
