Chidera, the son of the late Nollywood actor, Obinna Nwafor, known as Saint Obi, paid a heartfelt tribute to his father during the emotional farewell. He expressed how his father's passing has accelerated his journey into a leadership role and maturity.
Speaking at the burial held in the hometown of Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Imo State, family members shared their sentiments about the actor's departure. Chidera reflected on his father's positive impact and said, "Thank you for teaching me the way of life. I know you are watching over me. I have been forced to grow up into leadership. I will lead, Dad. I will protect my mum and siblings, especially from the preying press, as you did while you were here. I will always love you, till we meet again."
Linda, his wife, expressed her grief and love, saying, "I believe our (she and Saint Obi) meeting was divinely orchestrated. You were highly domesticated. I miss you. I still don't know how to feel. This should not have happened. It is very difficult to accept that you are gone, that my children will no longer have a father, and I will not hold your hulky frame again. My children and I pray for you daily. Your death has left us despondent. Losing you to the cold hands of death is my deepest sorrow. Nothing can heal the pain inside. I love you and always have."
Obi's only daughter, Nnemdi, shared her feelings, saying, "Dad, I just want you to know that I love you very much and I miss you. You will always be in my heart and I will always remember the fun times we shared. I wished you lived longer with us. You were a good actor. That is why I want to act and draw. I know you will not be here to watch me grow and do great things. Please watch over me, mummy and my brothers from heaven. I love you."
The deceased's sister, Nancy Jawfu, who reportedly held him in her arms during his passing in Jos, Plateau State, revealed his aspirations and forgiving nature. She said, "Saint Obi longed to serve God again. He urged us (his siblings) to live in peace. He also forgave those who wronged him."
