Actress, Mercy Johnson, is facing backlash for endorsing the incumbent governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in the recently postponed gubernatorial election.
In an announcement made on her Instagram page, the actress stated that her choice to vote for the governor was based on the visible and verifiable work of his administration in areas such as healthcare, women's development, transportation, entrepreneurship, education, and infrastructure in Lagos State. She also highlighted his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, entrepreneurship support, and support for women who have been victims of domestic violence.
However, netizens have criticized the actress for endorsing Sanwo-Olu despite maintaining a non-partisan stance during the presidential election. Some have accused her of only caring about her own interests and not considering the needs of the citizens who support her.
