The BET Awards caused a stir among Nigerians when Tems, known for her Afrobeats music, clinched the Best Gospel Song award with her hit track β€œMe & U,” a category traditionally dominated by mainstream gospel artists. Despite nominees such as Kirk Franklin and Halle Bailey, Tems emerged victorious.

Patrick Doyle.

Patrick Doyle took to his Facebook page to address the issue, offering words of consolation to gospel artists who may feel overlooked by the outcome.

In his post, he advised them to refrain from seeking validation from what he described as unreliable entertainment industry institutions, suggesting that such entities are under the influence of negative forces.

His words: "I feel the pain of mainstream gospel artistes who feel slighted that Tems an evidently secular musician was awarded the BET award for best gospel song. That said I believe it’s about time that committed christians stop seeking validation from fickle institutions like the entertainment industry mafia which by the way is in the grip of satan."
