Peter Obi, has announced that he will be pausing his whistle-stop campaign for governorship and state assembly candidates of the party on March 8th. This is due to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) denying his party access to inspect the materials, including the Biometric Verification Authentication System (BVAS), used in the February 25th presidential elections. It should be noted that a Court of Appeal had previously granted the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party access to inspect sensitive materials used by INEC in the presidential election. In tweets he shared, Peter Obi stated that he will be accompanying his lawyers to court over the issue and urged his supporters to vote for all Labour party candidates in the forthcoming election. He also reiterated the importance of voting for candidates with Competence, Character, Capacity, and Compassion, and expressed his commitment to pursuing due process and deferring to the rule of law in the bid to retrieve their mandate. Peter Obi had planned to visit Nasarawa, Lagos, Enugu, Abia, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Plateau, Borno, amongst other states in his whistle-stop campaign.
