Cheque revealed that he has maintained good friendships with several notable artists, including Asake, Fireboy DML, Blaqbonez, and Yhemolee, ever since their days as students at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, Cheque recounted that both he and Asake were romantically involved with two girls who were roommates while they were still university students. This revelation sheds light on the close-knit relationships they formed during their academic years.

During the interview, Cheque shared a significant moment from 2012 when he met Yhemolee through one of his ex-girlfriends at an event. This encounter proved to be pivotal, as it led him to interact with other emerging musicians such as Fireboy DML and Blaqbonez, further solidifying their bond.

In his words:

“I met Yhemolee through one of my former girlfriends. My friend was his friend, and then she introduced me to Yhemolee at an event in 2012 or so,” Cheque recalled.

“From there, I met Fireboy, Blaqbonez, and I started meeting everybody through Yhemolee. I was studying chemical engineering at the time, and I was strictly not into the music stuff because I thought it was for unserious people. But I got into music fully eventually. It was like a calling. I couldn’t resist it. So I met those guys, and I started going to the studio with them.”

Cheque continued to elaborate on his relationship with Asake: “Yhemolee and I were staying together, so I met Asake too. Asake and I were dating two girls who were roommates. We always moved together to their house. It was a very crazy time. The bond is very strong. I have been friends with Fireboy DML and Blaqbonez for

 14 years.”
