The attorney representing the late singer Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has recently given an update on the ongoing case concerning his royalties.
According to the attorney, the contractual agreement between the singer and Marlian Records was not a conventional record label deal. Instead, it involved specific arrangements that set it apart from the standard industry agreements.
It was revealed that prior to parting ways with Marlian Records and establishing his label, IMOLENIZATION LIMITED, Mohbad had released an Extended Play (EP) and several singles. The attorney clarified that the case revolves around the efforts to recover the EP and singles that Mohbad had recorded during his time with Marlian Records, which they claim are still under the control of the label even after his unfortunate passing.
The attorney stated: "Mohbad and Marlian Records had unique arrangements that I can't label as a traditional record label agreement. While he collaborated with the label in some capacity, he released an EP and multiple singles. In October of last year, he founded his own label, IMOLENIZATION LIMITED, and released an EP independently, receiving revenue directly as the sole owner of the company."
He continued, "What we have been striving to retrieve, both before and after his passing, are the EP and singles created during his association with the label. These assets are still under the control of Marlian Records, and we have been pursuing a resolution through legal means."
