Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, has finally addressed the swirling rumors about her being pregnant with American rapper Future.
Earlier last year, after her collaboration with Future on the track “Wait For U,” speculation arose that Tems was expecting a child with him. At the time, she seemed to dismiss the rumors with a tweet stating, “In conclusion, you people are all mad!!!” accompanied by a photo of herself. This response was seen as a denial of the claims.
Recently, Tems revisited the topic during an appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club.’ She expressed her confusion and frustration over why she was specifically being accused of being pregnant by Future, rather than other prominent figures like Drake or Wizkid.
“People just take the most controversial things. Because I was thinking like, why am I pregnant for Future? Why Future? Because that’s the craziest,” she said. Tems questioned why the rumors focused on Future, who is known for his high-profile personal life, rather than other major artists in the industry.
She further elaborated, “Why not Wizkid? Why not Drake? Why not somebody else? If it was Drake, it would be the same thing, but the reason why it is Future is because of his reputation.”
Tems highlighted that Future’s reputation for having multiple children and being known as a ladies’ man contributed to the spread of such rumors. “He has about five kids. And has a reputation of being a ladies’ man,” she added, pointing out the reasons behind the selection of Future in the rumors.
