Veteran Nigerian singer, Onyeka Onwenu reportedly slumped and passed away after performing at an event in Lagos.
The sad incident is reported to have occurred on Tuesday, July 30th at Reddington Hospital in Lagos.
Onwenu had been attending a birthday party where she performed on stage. After her performance, she collapsed upon returning to her seat.
Despite being rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
It is worth noting that Onwenu had a remarkable career spanning over 40 years. She made significant contributions as a singer, songwriter, actress, journalist, and politician. Her influential career began with her first album released in 1984, and she gained fame with hits like “One Love”, “Iyogogo”, and “Ekwe”. Her legacy in the music industry remains impactful.
