Nigerian actor, Yul Edochie has come under fire for advising Nigerians not to protest against the ongoing economic hardships in the country.
This advice comes in light of reports of a protest that is allegedly planned for July 29th, which is set to take place across the nation.
On July 19, 2024, Yul Edochie took to Instagram to express his views, urging Nigerians to remain patient and to continue voicing their concerns rather than resorting to protests.
In his post, he stated, “I acknowledge the hardships. Protest is not the answer. People take advantage of protests to break into other people’s shops, steal, destroy properties, hurt and kill innocent Nigerians who are already going through a lot. In the end, the aim of the protest will be defeated. Remember what happened during End Sars.”
Edochie further added, “Protest is not the answer. Let’s be patient. Let’s keep speaking out and doing all we can to help out. President Tinubu listens and he’s doing all he can to make things right. Fellow Nigerians, let’s be patient.”
However, his comments have been met with significant criticism from his followers and other Instagram users.
