A fourth-term lawmaker representing the Zaria federal constituency of Kaduna State, Hon. Tajudeen Abass, has emerged as the winner of the speakership race of the House of Representatives in the 10th national assembly. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the immediate past Spokesman of the 9th House of Representatives [/b], has also been elected unopposed for the office of the deputy speaker. Abass secured a total of 353 votes, surpassing his opponents, Hon. Idris Wase and Aminu Jaji, who each received 3 votes. Following his victory, Abass was sworn in by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Magaji Tambuwal. Kalu, representing the Bende federal constituency of Abia State, is currently taking his oath of office.
