The investigation revealed that during the week marking President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, the State House made payments for an unspecified quantity of bulletproof tyres and Westlake tyres.

Specifically, documents showed payments of N200,583,390, N38,070,000, and N6,000,960 on May 21, 2024.

The documents detail two significant payments for the procurement and supply of tyres for bulletproof vehicles and five armoured bulletproof tyres to Obi-Wealth Enterprises Nigeria Limited (RC-640684).

The payments amounted to N200,583,390 and N38,070,000, respectively. However, a quick search on the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) website revealed that this company is currently inactive.

Additionally, Hommy & Fay Investments Limited, an active entity on the CAC portal, handled the supply of an unspecified number of Westlake tyres (315/80R22), costing N6,000,960.

These payments were made less than 24 hours after the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, issued an apology to Nigerians over the nationwide hardship.

Speaking at a ministerial sectoral update, Bagudu asserted that the Tinubu-led government’s policies were on track despite the ongoing currency crisis and inflation hampering economic growth.
