In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Atiku expressed concern over Tinubu's performance in managing the country's economic system, describing it as disastrous.

Atiku highlighted the adverse impact of Tinubu's economic policies, asserting that the private sector is shrinking, small businesses are suffering, and multinational companies are leaving the country. He emphasized the escalating cost of living, causing hardship for the poor, with basic commodities, including bread, becoming unaffordable.

Critiquing Tinubu's 2024 budget, Atiku deemed it devoid of concrete ideas for economic transformation and criticized wasteful expenditures catering to a bloated federal government. He questioned Tinubu's capacity to handle the challenges posed by the new subsidy regime and the free-floating exchange rate policy.

Atiku accused Tinubu of playing a blame game, pointing fingers at his predecessor and reinforcing the perception that he came into office unprepared. He urged Tinubu and his economic team to acknowledge their failures and act swiftly to prevent the economy from sinking deeper into crisis.

In Atiku's words, "Tinubu and his economic management team must swallow their pride, admit their missteps and failures, and follow those who know the terrain. They must act fast before the economy sinks deeper into the abyss. The question is, will they?"
