High Chief Jackrich, popularly referred to as Egberipapa, contested the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State under the National Rescue Movement (NRM) banner. However, his support for Governor Fubara's administration has strengthened over time as he has become an active figure in promoting peace and unity in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Fubara acknowledged the significant contributions of The Simplicity Movement, commending its leadership for their unwavering support of his administration. He revealed that he rarely makes personal appearances to receive groups on solidarity visits but made an exception in this case due to the high regard he holds for High Chief Jackrich and the movement he leads.

Governor Fubara explained that the group is made up of individuals who have chosen, of their own free will, to align themselves with his administration and publicly declare their support. He noted that while other political actors may be paying people to show support, the individuals in The Simplicity Movement have chosen to back him without any financial incentives.

He remarked, “At a time when people are being paid to show support, we are grateful to have groups like The Simplicity Movement that voluntarily choose to align with our administration. I chose to personally welcome them to show my respect for their leadership and commitment to the progress of Rivers State.”

Governor Fubara expressed his appreciation for the group’s decision to identify with his administration and urged them to remain steadfast in their efforts to promote peace and defend the interests of the state. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming Local Government election, describing it as a critical step in reshaping the political landscape of Rivers State and ensuring that the commonwealth of the state is shared equitably among its people.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to the slogan “Rivers First,” explaining that prioritizing the interests of the state will lead to a reduction in crime, hunger, and unemployment. According to Governor Fubara, the Local Government election presents an opportunity for the people of Rivers to witness the birth of a new political structure that is inclusive and truly representative of their needs.

Governor Fubara stated, “Our journey towards liberating Rivers State has just begun. The Local Government election on October 5 will be a turning point, marking the rebirth of a strong political structure that doesn’t belong to any individual but to the people of Rivers. We must ensure that the resources of our state are used for the benefit of all, and that the dignity of our state is upheld.”

He urged the people to actively participate in the upcoming election, which he believes will set the foundation for the second phase of his administration’s efforts to bring about lasting change in the state. The Governor also stressed the need for continued peace, stating that the state’s progress depends on maintaining the stability that his administration has worked hard to foster.

In his remarks, High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich expressed his admiration for Governor Fubara’s leadership, praising his commitment to restoring the dignity of Rivers State and prioritizing the interests of its people. He highlighted the alignment between the goals of The Simplicity Movement and the Governor’s “Rivers First” agenda, describing it as a source of inspiration for their continued efforts to promote good governance in the state.

High Chief Jackrich emphasized that the group’s support for Governor Fubara is based on the administration’s focus on ensuring peace and progress for the state, and reaffirmed their dedication to standing by the Governor in his mission to bring positive change to Rivers State. He concluded by stating that The Simplicity Movement remains resolute in its commitment to supporting the administration’s efforts to ensure that the state’s resources are utilized for the benefit of all its citizens.
