The Lagos State Government has identified Lagos Island, Kosofe, and Eti Osa as the areas with the highest number of cholera cases.
Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Kemi Ogunyemi, disclosed that the death toll has now risen to 21, marking an increase of six from the previously recorded fatalities in the State. The total number of cholera cases has also surged to 401, up from the initial 350 infections.
According to her, this rise in cases was anticipated following the Sallah celebrations, which involved large gatherings.
However, she noted that suspected cases are subsiding across local government areas, particularly in previously affected regions, due to State Government interventions and surveillance efforts.
Ogunyemi emphasized that the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Health and other affiliated agencies, is closely monitoring the situation and implementing effective programs and activities to curb the spread of the disease.
