Hours after the impeachment of Philip Shaibu, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State swiftly appointed Omobayo Godwins, a 37-year-old individual, as his new deputy to fill the vacant position.

The inauguration of Omobayo is scheduled to take place on Monday at the Edo State Government House in Benin City, where friends and well-wishers have already gathered for the swearing-in ceremony.

Born on July 19, 1986, Omobayo hails from Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state.

Omobayo Godwins holds a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), showcasing a solid educational background ideal for effective public administration.

As a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Omobayo brings professional expertise to his new role.

Prior to his appointment, Omobayo gained valuable experience as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, honing his skills in operations, particularly in the South-South area.

He has also been actively involved in politics in his local government, establishing trust with the people, mobilizing them for common causes, and overcoming political barriers to the dismay of his opponents.
