Peter Obi and Labour Party donate ₦50 million to Borno flood victims

Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, recently visited the flood victims in Borno State. He was accompanied by LP Caretaker Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, and other key figures from the Labour Party. During the visit, Obi was received by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and the delegation included Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 LP vice presidential candidate; Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of the Obidients Movement; and various members of the party and Obidient Movement.

On Tuesday, Obi took to his X account to affirm the Labour Party's commitment to increasing aid for the flood-affected regions. In his post, he detailed their visit to Borno State, where they met with Governor Babagana Zulum and His Highness the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba Al Amin El-Kanemi. They also encountered the people of Borno State, who have been severely impacted by the recent flooding that has resulted in significant loss of life and extensive property damage.

Obi shared that their visit included stops at the Bank of the North spare parts market, where many traders had lost their goods, an IDP camp at Government College where they met thousands of displaced individuals, and a particularly sorrowful visit to a woman who lost her newborn twins due to the flood.

He emphasized the Labour Party's commitment to aiding those affected by the catastrophic floods in Borno State. To demonstrate their solidarity, Obi announced an initial donation of ₦50 million to the state government. He assured that this donation was just the beginning of their support.

Obi further expressed that the Labour Party would continue to stand by the people of Borno, providing ongoing aid and resources to support their recovery and rebuilding efforts. He reassured the residents that they are not alone during this challenging period.

He also extended his prayers for the quick recovery of those injured in the floods and expressed hope for the replenishment of losses and the eternal rest of those who lost their lives. Obi praised the Borno State government and various levels of government for their intervention and support for the affected individuals.

In his closing remarks, Obi prayed for God Almighty to grant eternal rest to the deceased, replenish the losses of those who lost their possessions, and provide swift healing to those still hospitalized. He wished continued blessings upon Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.
