Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, reportedly held a closed-door meeting with the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday. The meeting, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, was held under strict confidentiality, with journalists being denied access.

While the specifics of the discussions remain undisclosed, there are speculations that the meeting was convened to address the ongoing turmoil within the party, particularly in Rivers State, where Wike is a prominent figure. The BoT had previously reached out to Wike in August, seeking a meeting shortly after their engagement with the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

It remains unclear whether the BoT was able to reach a resolution with Wike during their meeting. Meanwhile, in related developments, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, made headlines on Tuesday by challenging Wike to set his state on fire if he is capable. Mohammed’s remark was a direct response to Wike’s earlier threat to “set PDP states who oppose him on fire.”

Governor Mohammed emphasized that the current crisis within the party should not be misconstrued as a personal conflict. He reassured that the PDP remains united despite internal disagreements, stating, “If we have quarrel, it is not personal, nobody should misunderstand us, we are together. This is not a splinter group; this is just a delegation from the National Working Committee of the PDP. We are going to discuss some of the issues in the party.”
