Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has expressed optimism about securing the signing of Kylian Mbappe, the French football star, in the near future.
Speculation regarding Mbappe's move to Real Madrid has been ongoing since his breakthrough as a teenager with AS Monaco.
Although Real Madrid made a €220 million (£188m/$237m) offer to Paris Saint-Germain for Mbappe during the last summer transfer window, it was rejected by the Ligue 1 side.
It was widely expected that Mbappe would join Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the following season. However, he surprised many by signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain in May 2022.
The current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, with an option for a 12-month extension if Mbappe decides to remain at Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain's home stadium.
Real Madrid, having lost striker Karim Benzema to Saudi Pro League winners Al-Ittihad, is actively seeking a new star forward. They have already secured the signings of Jude Bellingham, Brahim Diaz, and Fran Garcia.
In a recent viral video on Twitter, a fan approached Florentino Perez and asked if Real Madrid would sign Mbappe. Perez's response surprised many as he openly expressed his desire to sign the young forward, but added that it would not happen this year.
