The agreement for the Dutch footballer was completed by the Gunners earlier this week. However, the official unveiling of Timber as an Arsenal player was delayed due to contract-related issues.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta expressed his excitement about the signing, stating, "We're really excited that Jurrien has joined us. He is a versatile young defender who will fit into our system and provide our squad with so much added quality. Jurrien is a young player but has already achieved so much. He has experienced what it's like to go to a major international tournament on more than one occasion, as well as the trophies he has won with Ajax. We look forward to welcoming and integrating Jurrien into the squad."

Jurrien Timber, known for his versatility, can play on the right side of defense or in the center. He was previously a target for Manchester United last summer but chose to stay at Ajax for another year. Timber has signed a five-year contract with Arsenal and will wear the No.12 shirt.

As part of the deal, Arsenal will pay an initial fee of £34 million for the Netherlands international, with an additional £4 million in add-ons. Timber becomes the club's second summer signing after Kai Havertz, and the confirmation of Declan Rice's move from West Ham is expected to follow.

Timber began his youth career at Feyenoord before joining Ajax in 2014. He signed his first professional contract in 2018 and made his Eredivisie debut in 2020 after playing for the development side, Jong Ajax.

In addition to Timber's signing, Arsenal has also secured new contracts with Bukayo Saka (21) and Reiss Nelson (23). Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka (30), the experienced Swiss midfielder, has joined German side Bayer Leverkusen in a £21.4 million deal.
