The Premier League has been quite active in the ongoing transfer window, bolstering their squads with notable additions like Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans, and Moussa Diaby.

Due to significant injuries suffered by Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia, manager Unai Emery finds himself in need of replacements for these players.

Khedr's signing is a major triumph for Villa, as they managed to secure the player ahead of competition from other clubs. This move underscores their commitment to future plans, materializing the fruitful partnership they've established with ZED for the first time.

Omar Khedr, who had the opportunity to tour the Aston Villa facilities, also had a chance to meet the current senior squad before returning to his home country after putting pen to paper with the English club.
Aston Villa's official statement on the new signing reads as follows:

"Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of exciting Egyptian talent, Omar Khedr, from Zed FC.

"The 17-year-old winger has put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with the club and will join officially on 1st July 2024 when he turns 18, signing a long-term deal.

"Khedr’s arrival marks the first signing since Aston Villa and Zed FC entered a collaboration agreement earlier this year.

"Highly sought after, Khedr’s signature is a significant coup for Aston Villa’s Academy, with the Egyptian Under-17 international attracting attention and admiring glances from clubs across the continent and further afield.

"Khedr spent time earlier this month at Bodymoor Heath being shown around the High Performance Centre, meeting Unai Emery’s first-team stars as well as club legend and fellow Egyptian, Ahmed Elmohamady."
