Barcelona had initially identified Williams as a top target for the summer transfer window. However, the lack of engagement from the player has led the club to shift their focus elsewhere.
With Barcelona no longer a significant concern regarding the activation of Williams’ release clause, Athletic Club now faces a more pressing threat from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Football Espana.
Under the management of Luis Enrique, PSG could potentially offer Williams a lucrative deal that significantly exceeds his current earnings at Athletic Club.
Nonetheless, Athletic Club remains optimistic that Williams, who has previously expressed a preference to stay in Spain, will return to training with the club in August.
