After enduring several weeks of intense negotiations, the 24-year-old is set to depart from Atletico Madrid, potentially marking his final appearance for the club during their season opener against Villarreal.

Romano reported, “João Félix back to Chelsea, here we go! The deal is in place with Atlético Madrid and his agent Jorge Mendes.”

Romano further elaborated, “The contract extends until June 2030, with an option for João Felix, as arrangements for travel and medical tests are being made within the next 24 to 48 hours.”

Romano also mentioned, “Gallagher-Atléti, João-Chelsea.”

“This is an exclusive story, and it has been confirmed,” Romano added.

The Athletic also confirmed the news, highlighting that Felix has reached an agreement on personal terms and is set to sign a six-year contract with Chelsea, which includes an option for an additional year.

This long-term deal is expected to keep Felix at Stamford Bridge until he reaches the age of 30.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s midfielder, Conor Gallagher, is on the verge of completing a €42 million transfer to Atletico Madrid.

Initially, the England international had returned to London after the transfer faced delays, but with Felix’s transfer now secured, Gallagher’s move is also set to proceed without further hindrance.

While the exact fee for Felix’s transfer remains undisclosed, Romano estimates it to be in the range of €40 million to €45 million.

Atletico Madrid, who initially acquired Felix for €127 million, are likely relieved to reduce their wage bill, particularly in light of the strained relationship between Felix and the club’s manager, Diego Simeone.
