Chelsea [/b]are back in the race to sign Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen, with ongoing discussions reported to be progressing.
The new deal reportedly includes a potential cash-plus-player arrangement involving Romelu Lukaku.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Chelsea is now seriously considering a permanent transfer for Osimhen, aiming to bring him to Stamford Bridge and finally complete their long-standing pursuit of the striker.
Fabrizio Romano, in a Tweet on Tuesday night, also confirmed that Chelsea has never actually left the race for Osimhen, contrary to some recent reports.
Romano stated: “Chelsea have never left the race for Victor Osimhen, despite reports this month. Interest has always been and remains there, but Osimhen’s still only open to leaving only on permanent transfer and not reducing his salary. No changes so far.”
Chelsea’s renewed interest in Osimhen follows the collapse of their negotiations with Atletico Madrid for Samu Omorodion.
The London club now views Osimhen as a key target, with coach Enzo Maresca reportedly advocating strongly for the deal.
However, challenges persist. Osimhen, who is also being pursued by several top clubs, is not willing to accept a pay cut from his current salary at Napoli. He has rejected the idea of a loan move with an option to buy, insisting instead on a permanent transfer with a lucrative contract.
