This development follows Rubiales' previous headlines last August, where he made news for allegedly kissing Spanish female football player Jenni Hermoso during their title victory celebration.

However, his current interrogation is part of an investigation dubbed ‘Operation Brody,’ which delves into suspected corruption within the Spanish Football Federation, as reported by Football Espana.

Despite vehemently denying any involvement in corrupt practices during his tenure, Rubiales maintains the legitimacy of his business dealings and the source of his assets.

Reports indicate that Rubiales had been conducting business in the Dominican Republic until authorities raided his residence, compelling his return to Spain.

Upon landing at the airport, Rubiales was met by the Spanish anti-corruption unit, who proceeded to question him onboard the plane.

Later, he was spotted leaving the airport premises in a police van awaiting him on the runway.

This incident unfolds amidst a recent police raid on the RFEF headquarters, resulting in the interrogation of six individuals and the suspicion of five others.

In addition to the corruption charges, Rubiales faces separate legal battles, including allegations of sexual assault stemming from the incident with Hermoso, for which he is set to stand trial.

Rubiales has staunchly denied these allegations, maintaining his innocence throughout.
