Negotiations for a Joshua vs. Wilder showdown in Saudi Arabia have been stalled for several months, leading to the consideration of alternative locations like Las Vegas or London.

However, John Fury has made it abundantly clear that the path to a fight with his son, the Gypsy King, Tyson Fury, runs through Deontay Wilder.

He emphasized, “The only way that can happen is if he beats Deontay Wilder. If AJ wants to face Tyson, let him defeat Wilder. No one wants Wilder. They can’t take Wilder’s power.”

John Fury acknowledges that many fighters are avoiding Wilder due to his formidable punching power but maintains that facing him is the prerequisite for a bout against Tyson Fury.

“They're going to have to line up and do something big. Tyson went to everyone's backyard to claim those titles. If Joshua beats Wilder, that fight can be made in 30 seconds.

“But for now, it's at a standstill because he hasn't earned it. He can't face a few less challenging opponents and then confront the Gypsy King, can he? I know the public wants to see it, but let him earn it,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury already has two demanding bouts on his horizon. He is scheduled to face Francis Ngannou on October 28 and subsequently take on Oleksandr Usyk in a clash for the undisputed heavyweight world titles, tentatively set for late this year or early 2024.
