According to El Chiringuito, the 24-year-old Argentine is insisting that Manchester City set a reasonable transfer fee for potential suitors interested in acquiring him.

Alvarez, who initially joined City in January 2022 but returned to River Plate at the end of the season, has been a significant contributor to the team's success.

He played a pivotal role in Manchester City's treble-winning campaign two seasons ago and played a part in securing the Premier League title last season.

Despite his achievements, Alvarez has often played a supporting role to star striker Erling Haaland during his tenure at the club.

In his time at Manchester City, Alvarez has scored 36 goals and provided 18 assists in 103 appearances, many of which came as a substitute.

The contract extension Alvarez turned down included improved terms and would have extended his stay at the club until 2028.

Nevertheless, Alvarez seems prepared to embark on a new challenge and has requested Manchester City to facilitate his departure by setting a “reasonable” asking price for potential buyers.

Recent reports indicated that Manchester City had already rebuffed an approach from Atletico Madrid for Alvarez earlier last month.
