Manchester United are deeply worried and anxiously awaiting the assessment of new signing Leny Yoro’s ankle injury.
Yoro sustained the injury during a pre-season friendly against Arsenal, which took place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The match ended with United suffering a 2-1 defeat.
Yoro, who had recently joined from Lille for £52 million, was forced to leave the field in the first half of the game. This was only his second start for the club. The 18-year-old has been unable to participate in training sessions since the incident and was seen on crutches with a protective boot on his left foot on Tuesday.
According to ESPN, the club’s medical staff are still in the process of evaluating the extent of Yoro’s injury. Manager Erik ten Hag is expected to address the situation at a press conference scheduled for Thursday. Consequently, Yoro will miss the upcoming friendly against Real Betis, which is set to take place in San Diego on Wednesday.
In addition to Yoro’s injury concerns, Manchester United are also monitoring the fitness of striker Rasmus Højlund, who suffered a suspected hamstring injury and was substituted in the first half of the Arsenal match.
