Veteran Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has declared that Real Madrid are the biggest football team in the world.
In a recent edition of his Obi One podcast, co-hosted by Chris McHardy, Mikel firmly asserted that the Spanish capital giants are far and away the biggest club, leaving his former team Chelsea out of the discussion.
“We are in Madrid, Spain, the home of Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world. I think so,” Mikel stated.
When McHardy mentioned Chelsea, Mikel did not waver in his opinion. “Tell me who else is the biggest? They’ve won way more than Chelsea,” he argued.
Mikel, who spent over a decade at Chelsea and was part of their 2012 Champions League-winning squad, highlighted Real Madrid’s unmatched success in European football.
The Spanish club has won a record 15 Champions League titles, including their latest victory over Borussia Dortmund last season.
In contrast, Chelsea has won the prestigious title twice.
