Fenerbahce manager, José Mourinho, has criticized Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for diving too frequently during matches.
Osimhen, who has recently joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, is set to compete against Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the Turkish Süper Lig.
The Portuguese gaffer, who previously managed AS Roma and has faced Osimhen multiple times in Serie A, revealed that he had personally discussed the diving issue with the player.
“I told Osimhen, ‘You’re one of the best players in Africa along with Salah, but you can’t be diving,’” Mourinho stated in an interview with HT Spor.
Despite his criticism, Mourinho acknowledged Osimhen’s considerable talent but expressed the belief that the forward needs to address and improve this particular aspect of his game.
“He dives too much, and that’s my problem with him, but after 10 minutes, we are fine,” Mourinho added, indicating that despite the criticism, he remains supportive of the player’s abilities.
