Arsenal defender Pablo Mari has officially confirmed his departure from the club after spending three-and-a-half years with the Gunners. The 29-year-old Spanish center-back joined Arsenal in January 2020 from Flamengo but struggled to secure a regular starting position under manager Mikel Arteta. Consequently, Mari was loaned out to Monza for the previous season, where he made 31 appearances and impressed the Italian top-flight side enough to secure a permanent transfer for a reported fee of €6 million (£5.1m). Mari's loan spell at Monza was not without its challenges, as he was stabbed during a supermarket attack near Milan, requiring surgery and a three-month recovery period. However, the Mallorca Academy graduate bounced back and bid farewell to Arsenal following the announcement of his transfer. In his exit statement, Mari expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone associated with the club, thanking them for the opportunity to represent Arsenal, the memories shared, and the unwavering support he received. He acknowledged it as an immense honor to wear the Arsenal jersey and win two titles during his time at the club, leaving with a record of one goal from 22 matches across all competitions. This solitary goal came against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League in December 2020, while Mari also contributed to Arsenal's success by winning one FA Cup and one Community Shield.
