Fran Garcia, 23 years old, began his career in Real Madrid's youth teams before joining Rayo on loan in 2020. Following his contributions to Rayo's promotion to La Liga, Garcia made a permanent move to the club in July 2021.

During the 2022-23 season, Garcia, playing as a defender, accumulated the most playing time among outfield players in La Liga.

Real Madrid has secured Garcia's services on a four-year contract, extending until the end of June 2027. The club acquired him for a fee of only €5 million, having retained 50% of his rights when he initially joined Rayo in 2020.

In an official statement, Real Madrid announced the signing of Fran Garcia, stating:

"Real Madrid C. F. and Rayo Vallecano have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Fran Garcia, who will be part of the club for the upcoming four seasons."

Having had an impressive season with Rayo, where he played over 3,400 minutes, Garcia now returns to the club where he started his career.

Garcia's arrival will help fill the left-back position following the departure of Marcelo in 2022 and the likely exit of Ferland Mendy this summer, who has been hampered by injuries throughout the season.

When asked about Garcia in a recent press conference, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke highly of the defender, stating that he possesses great energy, speed, and attacking abilities, making him a suitable fit for Real Madrid's style of play.

In addition to the signing of Garcia, Real Madrid has already confirmed the arrival of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of 103 million euros, making Garcia the second addition to the team for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.

Meanwhile, Garcia is not the only player leaving Rayo this summer, as Osasuna announced their acquisition of central defender Alejandro Catena on a free transfer on June 9.
