Manchester United icon, Rio Ferdinand, expressed his belief that if the club were to sign him from Leeds in today's transfer market, he would command a staggering valuation of £170 million. Comparing it to the fees paid during his playing days, Ferdinand's transfer to Manchester United in July 2002 made him the most expensive British footballer and the world's priciest defender at approximately £30 million. Forming an exceptional partnership with Nemanja Vidic, Ferdinand and Vidic were widely regarded as one of the best defensive duos globally in the mid-2000s. However, Ferdinand acknowledges the exponential rise in transfer fees since his time as a player. Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand confidently stated that he would now be worth £170 million in the current market, emphasizing that a price tag of £100 million would be considered cheap for him. He also mentioned potential wages in the range of £400,000 to £450,000 per week. Such a valuation would surpass the fees paid for notable players like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, who commanded fees of £166 million and £199 million, respectively. As of now, the most expensive center-back transfer is Harry Maguire's move to Manchester United in 2019 for £80 million. Throughout his illustrious 20-year career, Ferdinand made over 700 appearances, representing clubs such as West Ham, Leeds, QPR, and enjoying the most successful stint at Manchester United. His impressive list of honors includes seven Premier League titles, two League Cups, and a Champions League triumph in 2008.
