A 51-year-old transgender individual, previously arrested for sexually assaulting women, was relocated from a female cell to a men’s facility after assaulting and raping a female cellmate in the restroom.
Initially charged with rape, Tremaine Deon Carroll, who identifies as transgender, was held in a women’s prison.
Tremaine “Tremayne” Deon, also known as Carroll, had previously faced allegations of three counts of “oral copulation,” involving compelling female victims into oral sex. However, these charges were dropped. Carroll is now accused of assaulting and raping his female cellmate in the shower at the Central California Women’s facility.
California legislation allowing transgender inmates to be housed according to their gender identity facilitated Carroll’s placement in the female cell.
Carroll, aged 51, stands at 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.
Despite not undergoing sex-reassignment surgery, Carroll identifies as a trans woman and is pictured in police photos wearing a thick black and gray wig.
According to Jane Doe, Carroll exhibited sexual interest immediately upon being transferred, leaving her suggestive letters. She claimed Carroll approached her a second time in their shared space.
Jane Doe asserted she rebuffed Carroll’s advances, yet less than a day later, Carroll allegedly assaulted her in the restroom.
