[p]A tragic incident occurred in Kano state, as 20-year-old Halifa Hamza allegedly stabbed his elder brother Usman Hamza to death with a pair of scissors. The incident reportedly happened on Sunday, April 2, 2023, following an argument between the siblings.
According to their father, Alhaji Hamza, the argument ensued after the elder brother collected his father's motorcycle to inform his friends about an Iftar organized for people to come and eat. On his return, he saw that his younger brother was wearing his shirt and trousers. He confronted him, and a fight ensued. During the altercation, Halifa allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed his brother in the chest, resulting in his death.
Halifa's friend, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Wednesday and stated that an investigation was ongoing.
