In response to the alleged threats made by the Labour Party's governorship flag-bearer, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), during the recently conducted gubernatorial elections in Lagos state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticized his lack of sportsmanship. GRV had alleged that a party member of his was shot and killed during the elections and called out the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to impose an order to avoid a reaction that may cause "Lagos to catch fire".

In a statement released on Saturday, the ruling party's Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Seye Oladejo, expressed that the APC had no justification for violence and called GRV's statements "scaremongering" which is "typical of bad losers who lack the spirit of sportsmanship".

Mr. Oladejo also mentioned that the APC is in the process of documenting reports of how its supporters were subjected to harassment and violence during the election, stating that some of the reports were particularly alarming. He further added that the LP candidate is playing the victim and that this old trick will not work as discerning Lagosians know they are all lies deployed to attract sympathy. Oladejo stressed that the APC has no need to be violent because they are sure of the glittering credentials of their governorship candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who will never be associated with violence.

"We advise LP and its candidate to embrace peace instead of threatening to bring down the roof on everybody. It won't work," Oladejo added. He also warned that if there is any breakdown of law and order in any part of Lagos State, law enforcement agencies should know who to grab - Mr. Rhodes-Vivour.

A video clip posted by GistReel.Com on Twitter showed GRV alleging that an agent of his party was shot dead in Apapa, Lagos State. However, the APC in its statement maintained that they had no justification for violence and called on all political actors to embrace peace and work together for the betterment of Lagos state.
