[p]In a disturbing incident that occurred on Sunday, April 30, 2023, a 5-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a suspected drug dealer identified as Muhammed Audu in Kayeri village of Fune LGA in Yobe state, Nigeria.
[/p][p]According to reports, the victim had accompanied her older sister to hawk kola nut around the Kabul area in Kayeri community when the suspect sent the little girl to help him get something nearby. Without the knowledge of her older sister, Muhammed Audu followed the girl and took her into an uncompleted mosque in the Kabul area, where he allegedly raped her.
[/p][p]The minor was left bleeding and with bruises by the suspect. After the incident, the suspect had been on the run but was later apprehended and handed over to the police in Damagum town for further investigation.
[/p][p]This appalling act of child sexual abuse has sparked outrage and calls for justice across the country. The government and relevant authorities have been urged to ensure that the perpetrator of this heinous crime is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
