The student, who goes by the handle @meet_fehyee on TikTok, lamented the decision, explaining that it was enforced just as she was about to experience the tradition for herself.

The sign-out tradition, commonly practiced in Nigerian higher institutions, allows students to celebrate the end of their academic journey by wearing white shirts adorned with messages from friends, family, and well-wishers.

On the day of their final exams, students usually distribute pens to their friends, family, and peers, who then write congratulatory messages on their shirts. This tradition is seen as a symbolic and celebratory end to their academic careers.

According to @meet_fehyee, her institution decided to prohibit the activity this year, leading to significant frustration for her and her peers. She took to TikTok to share her discontent, describing the ban as particularly disheartening because it coincided with her own graduation.
