[p]A concerned Kenyan lady has voiced her frustration with the Kenyan government and police, alleging that they persistently target Nigerian men, leading to negative consequences for both Nigerian residents and Kenyan women involved with them. She revealed that she herself is married to a Nigerian citizen, and she knows several Kenyan acquaintances who are expecting children with Nigerian partners.
However, the situation is far from ideal for these couples, as the frequent arrests and deportations carried out by the Kenyan police force make it difficult for them to maintain stable relationships. Consequently, many Nigerian children in Kenya grow up without their fathers due to the enforcement actions taken by the Kenyan government.
The concerned lady expresses her dismay over the negative impact on the "Ashewo" industry in Kenya, which refers to the practice of lavish spending by Nigerian men on their companions. She asserts that the actions of the Kenyan government against Nigerian men have led to a decline in this industry, causing financial difficulties for the women involved.
In her own words, she states:
"Hi Guys, I think this is the right time to go out as Kenyans. Let us be fair. See, I wasn't born in Nigeria, but I got married to a Nigerian citizen. Let me tell you something. Many of my friends are currently pregnant with Nigerian children, and many of my friends are single mothers.
Why is this happening? It's because of police brutality and discrimination against Nigerians. Nigerian men want to have relationships with Kenyan women, but they are afraid to marry them. Which country would restrict them and then expect them to come and marry us?
Our children are Nigerian, and they are growing up without fathers, not because the fathers don't want to be in their lives, but because Kenya has used bribes to pursue their deportation.
Now, we are facing the consequences. Customers are running away, and the ashewo business is no longer thriving. We are not seeing men because our customers are afraid to come out."
