54-year-old Nkeruewen Etuk, who killed his lover Esther Ndereke, revealed that the incident was triggered by her inability to cook rice properly, leading to a heated argument. According to Etuk, Ndereke almost set their apartment on fire while cooking due to negligence. The altercation escalated, resulting in Ndereke's tragic demise after she slumped during the fight. Etuk claimed that he never intended to kill her and had not had any serious issues with her during their two-year relationship. The incident occurred at Abasi Obori Street in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State. The police arrested Etuk following a distress call and subsequently rushed Ndereke to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her body was taken for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death. Etuk is currently in police custody and will face the full weight of justice for his alleged actions.
