One Nigerian man, Oláyinka Owólewa took to Twitter to express his disappointment with the habit of Nigerians being more interested in tragic events than happy ones. In Oláyinka Owólewa post, he recalled how very few people reached out to congratulate him or visit him when his child was born two years ago. However, when the child sadly died six months later, those who showed up to condole with him were more than those who had congratulated him when the child was born.

Reacting to another tweet that said, “Banky W appears to have received more support since he lost the election than he did when he was running,” Olayinka voiced his disappointment with this personality flaw, which he claims is typical of the majority of Nigerians.

He shared his experience and wrote on Twitter, “That is what Nigerians do to you. Some 2yrs ago, when me and my wife had a new baby, the people that called me or visited me when the baby died after 6 months were much more than those that congratulated me when the baby arrived.”

Olayinka's post highlights the importance of celebrating happy events in people's lives, just as much as providing support during tragic events. It is a common trend in Nigeria for people to show more interest in sad and tragic events than happy ones. This attitude needs to be changed as it can lead to a negative impact on people's mental health and well-being. It is crucial to support and celebrate happy events in people's lives to build stronger relationships and foster positivity in society.

Overall, Olayinka's post is a reminder for everyone to prioritize celebrating happy events in people's lives and support them during difficult times. This change in attitude can help create a more positive and empathetic society in Nigeria and beyond.
