Amidst the controversies surrounding Mohbad‘s father's decision to expedite his son's burial arrangements, the grieving dad has revealed the reasons behind his choice to attempt a midnight burial. This revelation comes in the wake of the passing of the former Marlian Music artist.
In a recent interview, Mr. Joseph Aloba, Mohbad's father, attributed the decision to the burial rush to Yoruba tradition. He explained that it is a sorrowful practice to keep the body of a young child at home while the parents are still alive. He further clarified that if it were an elderly person, they would have kept the body in the mortuary for as long as necessary.
Additionally, he revealed that he chose to bury his son in a seemingly deserted area because it was the only landed property he owned. According to him, there was an agreement to use the land for the construction of a church.
In his own words, he said, “Everybody has what they are facing. In Yoruba land, his body is not the type you keep at home because he was young and his parents are alive. If it was to be an elderly person, we would have kept him in the mortuary for as long as we wanted.
“In his case, the day we see evil is the day it goes away. It was at that midnight that I made the decision. I had him buried on that land because that is the only property that I know of and we had an agreement that I’d use the land to build a church.”
